Performance

Base models come standard with a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder with smart fuel-saving technology like idle-stop while the upgrade engine continues to be a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that puts out 180 horsepower delivering a forceful response while also quiet and smooth. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is the sole offering as the manual transmission offered on the previous generation Civic sedan has been cut for 2022. A six-speed manual is still available on the hatchback model. Fortunately, the agile handling, communicative steering, and graceful ride that was appreciated greatly in the last generation model are still included here.

Both engines are easy on gas. The 2022 Honda Civic EX sedan which according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the most fuel efficient Civic version earns ratings of 33 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and 36 mpg combined. The thriftiest new 2.0-liter Honda Civic is the LX sedan, rated by the EPA at 31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined.

Interior & Tech

A more streamlined interior design debuts in the 2022 Civic, with cleaner lines and a dashboard featuring easily accessible controls and a full-width honeycomb-patterned mesh design element that cleverly hides the air vents. A wider center console features a large, deep bin perfect for storing smartphones, snacks and other small items. The spacious cabin seats five, and offers available leather-trimmed seats for added style and comfort.

The 2022 Civic comes standard with a 7.0-inch color touchscreen infotainment display, while both a larger 9.0-inch unit and a 10.2 inch digital gauge display are optional. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also both standard. A front USB port is standard with up to three additional ports available. Other options include in-dash navigation, a 12-speaker premium Bose sound system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Safety and Driver-Assistance

The HondaSensing safety suite, standard in all 2022 Civics, includes adaptive cruise control, a collision-mitigation system with automatic emergency braking, and road-departure mitigation.
