One of the major competitors in the small SUV market, Honda has brought the boom with the completely redesigned 2017 Honda CR-V. From the safety features to the interior, the new Honda CR-V offers drivers and passengers an enjoyable, roomy ride with convenience a key focus as well. The 2017 Honda CR-V is poised to dominate the market, giving automakers like Toyota and Ford a real run for their money.
One thing we hope hasn’t changed for the new 2017 Honda CR-V, is safety. The 2016 CR-V was named one of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s top safety picks, and we hope to expect the same from the unique Honda body construction. Built using Advanced Compatibility Engineering, the CR-V’s body structure uses a network of structures to minimize the impact of a crash in the front, helping the forces to be divided among the vehicles to keep everyone involved safer. The 2017 Honda CR-V adds to this passive safety system a series of standard active safety systems, including traction control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, daytime running lights, and a multiangle rear view camera with guidelines. Additional safety features, like pre-collision warning and braking systems, lane departure warnings, and blind spot monitoring, are available options on upgraded trim levels. With that kind of solid safety support on board, the CR-V is a wise choice.
The exterior of the 2017 Honda CR-V looks familiar, with a few kicks. A snazzier flared fender, LED daytime running lights, and a few angles and some more chrome kick up the style a notch, but the interior is where the redesign is obvious. More room in the already room backseat makes this CR-V a pleasure to ride in, doors that open wide and nearly flat sills make this vehicle easy to get in and out of, and active noise cancellation makes it much more relaxing to drive. Combine this with a 60/40 rear seat that lays completely flat and you’ve got an SUV that competes. Some additional options, like the impressive kick-activated tailgate feature, is available on the Touring model and demonstrates the fun, thoughtful improvements to the CR-V.
The CR-V is a pleasure to drive, with convenience features that are standard on every model. Think about what makes your life easier as a driver, and the Honda CR-V has tried to implement it: remote entry, power doors and windows, accessible 12-volt outlets for charging devices. But it’s also got a few interesting additions on upgraded trims- push button start, power drivers seat, a retractable cargo area cover, a security system-that take the stress out of driving and put the fun back into it. Combine these with the roomy and upgraded interior and you’ve got a vehicle that kills the pain of nearly any commute.
Add to all of this an entertainment package that, depending on the trim level, moves from standard 4-speaker awesome to 7-speaker and subwoofer audio domination and you have more than enough to put the CR-V at the top of your must-drive list. Like most SUVs in this class, the CR-V offers an audio system compatible with MP3 files (but they’ve added Windows Audio compatibility as well) and streaming Bluetooth audio, but it also has text message reading abilities as well as speed sensitive volume controls. That may seem like a little thing, but little things add up. On upgraded trims, the entertainment system includes SiriusXM as well.
The 60/40 split seat lays flat, allowing you to carry large cargo and passengers at the same time.
